Nikwax Tech Wash is very easy to use and can be washed in the washing machine. This cleaner removes dirt and detergent residues and restores the garment's waterproofness and breathability.
Washing instructions for waterproof clothing: Wash the garment with Tech Wash after each wash and always before soaking.
Most waterproof clothing has an outer waterproof layer called a durable water repellent (DWR) coating. This coating ensures that the fabric repels and reabsorbs water. When used correctly, a durable water repellent (DWR) coating allows moisture to evaporate and prevents water from penetrating. Over time, dirt, grease and other contaminants can reduce the DWR (durable water vapor resistance) of a fabric, making it less water-repellent. Using traditional household cleaners leaves a residue that attracts water and can reduce water repellency. As the DWR coating wears off, the fabric absorbs water. This reduces air permeability, prevents water vapor from evaporating and makes it damp. The DWR protection and breathability of waterproof clothing, shoes and equipment can be restored by washing and soaking the fabric in award-winning Nikwax products.
